Hi everyone, my name's Ian and I live in central France. Some months ago I became the owner of a 1991 Spartamet when a Dutch friend was clearing things out and preparing to move back to Holland. It's a rare machine here but after a new rear tyre and replacing the broken carburettor cover it's now running quite well. I have a technical issue to solve but will post it in the correct section, hopefully :-)
Re: Ben je nieuw stel je even voor
Welcome Ian,
A Spartamet is roughly the Dutch equivalent of the French Solex.
A rare breed indeed, outside the Netherlands and parts of Northern Germany.
The big advantage is that you can also use one like a normal bicycle.
Like every vehicle it has ofcourse its strong and weakpoints.
If you know what you are doing they can be very very reliable.
The funfactor goes truh the roof, especialy for you in France
A rare Citroen SM can be seen more often then a Spartamet there.
And yes like an old Citroen you will also love and hate it
Just ask questions and we will help you so good as it gets.
Can't wait to see pictures of yours in the habitat of the French countryside.
